PET SURGERY/DENTAL

Pet Surgery and Dental Services
for Lawrenceville, Lilburn, & Snellville, GA

Please call or contact Brookwood Animal Hospital if you need to schedule Surgery and Dental care for your dog or cat. Routine pet surgeries and dentals, referred to as COHATs (comprehensive oral health and treatment) are performed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

We welcome both routine and more advanced surgeries. Brookwood Animal Hospital requires a presurgical visit prior to surgery for any new patient. That gives us time to meet you and your pet, go through any records you have, discuss the procedure, and answer any questions you may have.

How to Prepare Your Pet for Surgery and Dental Services

Preparing a pet for surgery is comparable to preparing a child for surgery. You will want to ensure they are comfortable and that an adult is present. A pre-anesthetic examination is always performed by one of our doctors on the day of surgery. Also, bloodwork will help to determine if your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia.

Post-Surgery Care for Your Pet

Your pet may experience similar symptoms to a human after surgery. You will want to have someone at home with your pet at night. Some swelling and redness around the skin where the surgery was performed can be expected. It is also normal for your pet to seem sleepy or less coordinated. If you see any other signs of concern, you can contact our office and we’ll be happy to help.
